I Aim to Live a Life That is Mine
I've always said my dad was my live-in philosopher.
He had a way of making me think about life, not by giving me answers, but by asking the questions that stayed with me.
Over the years, I've developed my own philosophy:
𝙄 𝙖𝙞𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚.
For me, that means:
🌱 Designing my life rather than waiting for life to happen to me
🧭 Knowing what matters to me, and being willing to make choices accordingly
🚫 Having the courage to say no to what doesn't fit, even when it would be easier to say yes
💗 Making room for the people, relationships and experiences that make life meaningful
✨ Continuing to grow without constantly feeling like I need to become someone else
🌊 Accepting that truly living life fully includes grief, uncertainty, change and hard things
I think my dad gave me something important:
𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧.
Now, years into adulthood, I realize that's probably the greatest philosophy I could have inherited.
𝙄 𝙖𝙞𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚.
… I think I'll keep aiming for that, for the rest of my life … 💗
