Making Room for Grief and Joy

This year has held a lot.

๐ŸŒˆ Losing my dad
โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน A serious stroke in the family
๐Ÿง  Navigating dementia and the uncertainty that comes with it
๐Ÿš— Deciding to cancel a road trip with Mylo

And thereโ€™s been joy, too.

๐ŸŒŠ A trip to the Azores
๐Ÿถ Time with Ed and Mylo
๐Ÿฅฐ Laughter with our nieces

Life hasnโ€™t exactly been neat or predictable.

Iโ€™m learning that resilience isnโ€™t always about pushing through. Sometimes itโ€™s about changing the plan, simplifying things, and being present for the people you love.

Sometimes that looks like sitting around a table, having a drink and a good conversation, even when life around you is complicated.

Iโ€™ve been thinking a lot about how grief and joy can co-exist. We donโ€™t have to choose between them.

I think thereโ€™s something similar in coaching. Leaders can carry a lot and still have hopes, ambitions, curiosity and moments of joy.

Thereโ€™s room for all of it.
